After using mouthwash, some people automatically rinse with water to remove the strong taste. This is not always consistent with the product’s intended use.
Check the directions on the label
Mouthwashes differ in their formulas and directions. If the manufacturer advises spitting out the rinse without an additional water rinse, follow that instruction.
Why is there no single rule for every product?
A cosmetic rinse may be used differently from a product containing specific active ingredients. A general rule should not replace the information on the packaging.
What about after toothpaste?
The order of toothpaste and mouthwash also matters. If a rinse is used immediately after toothpaste, it may affect what remains on the tooth surfaces. Ask a dentist if you are unsure.
